Nordic Footprints Online Show

By

#NordicFootprintsTz is a campaign that celebrates the Nordic presence in Tanzania led by the Royal Danish Embassy, the Embassy of Finland, the Norwegian Embassy and the Embassy of Sweden.

Nordic-Tanzanian bonds

The Nordic countries have a long history of friendship with Tanzania and have been present in Tanzania in various ways for over 50 years – leaving different traces or “footprints”.

They created an online campaign to ask Tanzanians about these footprints and what difference they have made in their lives.

“Nordic Week is a week to celebrate the friendship between Tanzania and the Nordic countries, and it’s a week to highlight and to share past and present examples of our friendship.”– Mette Dissing-Spandet, Danish ambassador to Tanzania.

Leading up to Nordic Week in May 2021, the Nordic embassies encouraged people to share photos on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, that would represent or mention any traces of Nordic-Tanzanian, using the hashtag #NordicFootprintsTz.

“We are grateful for the many contributions we have received, big or small, old or new, tangible or intangible.”– Mette Dissing-Spandet, Danish ambassador to Tanzania.

All the materials from the campaign have come together on an online show that is now open to visitors!

“We are launching an online gallery hoping to do justice to all the footprints we’ve received. We welcome you to sit back and enjoy each piece. And don’t forget to click on each picture to know more about the story behind it.”– Mette Dissing-Spandet, Danish ambassador to Tanzania.
